  • Week of May 11

Good evening everyone. This is Rhonda Jones, the proud principal of Rand Road Elementary
School. It was great to see more of our families during our 2nd Raider Ride this past Friday.
Our staff are committed to connecting with our families, even during this time of physical
distancing. It was obvious that it brightened the day for many, even residents in the
community who enjoyed our parade. Isn’t making someone’s day better, what life should be
about? I want to wish all mothers and those who serve in that role, a Happy Mother’s Day on
this beautiful, sunny day. I hope it was extra special for you. As we continue with remote
learning, parents please know that we are here for you. We want to offer any support that you
may need during this time as you provide more support from home than ever before. We
understand that all students are not able to join classes each day but we hope that you will
encourage their attendance and the completion of assigned work to the extent possible. If you
have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me at rejones@wcpss.net or call the school
office at 919-662-2275. Have a great evening everyone.

  • Week of May 4

Good evening everyone. This is Rhonda Jones, the proud principal of Rand Road Elementary
School. It was great to see so many of our families during our Raider Ride this past Friday. We
look forward to another ride this Friday to visit other parts of our attendance area. This is
Teacher and staff appreciation week. Students, please be creative and show your teachers just
how much you appreciate their work. Parents, you are doing a great job of juggling so much as
you work with your children at home along with your many other responsibilities. Please
have your children share their work with you before they submit it to their teachers to make
sure they have done their very best work. Don’t forget that you can schedule a time to meet
with the teacher during office hours to check on your child’s progress. Have a great evening
    everyone.

Good evening everyone. This is Rhonda Jones, the proud principal of Rand Road Elementary
School. I hope that you enjoyed some of the beautiful sunshine this weekend and that you are
practicing more wellness activities during this time. We are making progress each week as we
learn how to have virtual school. Parents, please know that we believe that you are doing a
great job supporting your children. This takes a lot of patience and courage as we figure things
out. I thank you for your patience with our staff also, as we too are learning how to best
support both students and you, from a distance. This week is our virtual spirit week and we are
encouraging everyone to wear their Rand Road t-shirts tomorrow. Check out our website or
Class Dojo for each day’s event. We are a strong school community and during this time, we

  • Week of April 13

Good evening everyone.  This is Rhonda Jones, the proud principal of Rand Road Elementary School.  I hope that you have enjoyed the holiday weekend.  I am so excited to announce that remote teaching and learning will begin tomorrow, Monday, April 13.  Students will need to be prepared to log into their google drive using their student ID number, which is their lunch number.  Parents, please note that this is not like the typical 6 ½ hour day.  Instead, your child’s teacher has scheduled time to meet as a class and they have designated office hours to work with students and to answer your questions.  This information is being posted on our website for your reference.  We have not received hotspots as of today, but will contact parents as soon as they are received.  Also, all field trip refunds will be mailed by Wednesday, April 15.  Please encourage your students to give their best effort as we begin school this week.  As always, please contact the school if we can be of assistance in any way or if you have any questions. We are in this together which means, we will get to the other side of this together.  Have a great evening everyone.

  • Week of February 3

Good evening everyone.  This is Rhonda Jones, the proud principal of Rand Road Elementary School.  It was great welcoming all of our students back to school last week. I hope that you have been able to discuss 3rd quarter goals with your child after reviewing the report cards that were sent on Friday.  If you have not been able to meet with your child's teacher this year, I have asked a member of our Student Services team to reach out to parents to help arrange a meeting time. It is so important to work together to support the progress of our students because we share a common desire for their success.   This week, our 3rd - 5th grade students will take the NC Check Ins tests that will provide their teachers with information on how to better support their progress. On Wednesday, we have School Improvement Committee meetings that are open to all members of our school community and that includes you. If you are able to join us, we will be meeting from 8:00 - 8:45 AM.  Also on Wednesday, our PTA has planned a Family Night fundraiser at Blaze Pizza here in Garner. Their pizza is delicious and you can help our school, just come by from 4-9 PM. Thanks for your support of Rand Road and may your favorite Superbowl team win tonight.
