Bachelor’s degree in Science Education from NC State

Ms. Jill Walton

I am a Raleigh native and a Millbrook High School Alumni.  I start off by saying this because it seems to be a unique characteristic these days.  I played volleyball and soccer for Millbrook and swam for the North Raleigh Swim Club.   Following graduation, I attended NC State where I majored in Zoology/Pre-Med with a minor in Genetics.  I decided medical school wasn’t for me so I went back to NC State and received a Bachelor’s degree in Science Education.  I am a die hard Wolfpack fan and can be found at Carter Finley Stadium on Saturdays when the Pack is in town.

I started my career in teaching at Fuquay-Varina High School.  There, I coached women’s soccer and basketball as well as served as the senior class advisor.  In 2001, I moved to California and took a job teaching 8th grade science in Beverly Hills.  I was able to coach basketball too.  It was great to move out West and see new places and meet new people.  Eventually I made my way back to North Carolina.  I decided to live in Charlotte where I would be close to my sister and her family.  Shortly after my arrival, she moved back to Raleigh.  And I stayed for another 8 years.  I taught 6th grade science and coached volleyball and soccer.

Just recently I have returned to Raleigh where all of my family resides.  I am enjoying teaching 8th grade and coaching girls soccer.  In my free time, I like to hang out with family & friends, watch movies, read, travel, go to the lake, nap, and do anything involving sports.
