23 high schools named to Advanced Placement School Honor Roll

Twenty-three high schools in the Wake County Public School System have been named to the 2025 Advanced Placement(AP) School Honor Roll, as announced by the College Board.

The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering strong academic results while expanding access to advanced coursework. Schools earn annual recognition based on criteria that reflect a commitment to fostering a college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and strengthening overall college readiness.

WCPSS schools earned distinctions at the Silver, Gold and Platinum levels.

Silver distinction schools: Apex High, Athens Drive Magnet High, Cary High, Fuquay-Varina High, Millbrook Magnet High, Sanderson High, Vernon Malone College and Career Academy, Wake Forest High, Wakefield High, and Willow Spring High.

Gold distinction schools: Enloe Magnet High, Heritage High, Holly Springs High, Middle Creek High, and Panther Creek High.

Platinum distinction schools: Apex Friendship High, Broughton High, Crossroads FLEX High, Green Hope High, Green Level High, North Wake College and Career Academy, Wake Early College of Information and Biotechnologies, and Wake STEM Early College High.

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our students, teachers and school leaders to expanding access to rigorous coursework and preparing students for success beyond high school,” said Superintendent Robert P. Taylor. “We are proud of the work happening across our district to ensure more students have the opportunity to challenge themselves and earn college credit.”

The AP Program, administered by the College Board, enables students to take college-level courses and exams while in high school. Students who earn qualifying scores on AP exams may receive college credit, advanced placement or both at many colleges and universities nationwide.
