Report a Safety Concern

Students walking into school

Keep schools safe by sharing safety concerns using the WCPSS Tip Line or Say Something Anonymous Reporting System.

WCPSS Safe Schools Tip Line

The tip line is a proactive way to help prevent and stop violence at school. Tip line calls go to the WCPSS Alarm Monitoring Center. A trained operator will receive the caller’s information and ask for any additional information needed to respond to the situation. Callers may remain anonymous.

Call the Tip Line at 919-856-1911 to report:

  • Threats of violence
  • Aggressive behavior
  • Weapons on campus
  • Drugs or alcohol on campus
  • Harassment
  • Vandalism
  • Suicide threats
  • Anything else harmful to the school community

At the end of the call, the operator will ask if the caller wants a call back about steps taken to address the situation reported. WCPSS Security and schools will investigate and act on information provided by callers.

By using the tip line responsibly, students can play a valuable role in preventing violence at school. The tip line is strictly for reporting safety concerns.

Say Something Anonymous Reporting System

The Say Something Anonymous Reporting System allows students and staff to report safety concerns confidentially. This program is used in grades 6-12 and by all employees.

More than 5,000 schools across the country use SS-ARS. It is provided by Sandy Hook Promise, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing violence.

This system helps everyone:

  • Recognize signs of at-risk behavior, including on social media.
  • Take every sign seriously and talk with a trusted adult.
  • Report concerns anonymously 24 hours a day.
  • Respond to tips through school teams and emergency services.
  • Keep safety top of mind with activities, student clubs, and awareness campaigns.

Step 2: Tip Review

The tip is shared with school leaders and, if needed, 911 dispatchers.
