Every child deserves access to nutritious meals at school. Through federal and local support, some Wake County schools provide free meals to all students with no application required.
2026-27 Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)
Some schools participate in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a federal program from the USDA. If your child attends a CEP school, they automatically receive free breakfast and lunch every school day with no application required. Families do not need to complete a meal benefits form for students attending a CEP school.
If you have other children enrolled at a non-CEP school, and you’d like to be considered for free or reduced-price meals for those students, you must complete a meal benefits application for them.
If your student attends one of these schools, they will receive free meals (breakfast and lunch) at school for the 2026-27 school year.

2026-27 Universal (Free) Breakfast Program Schools
At participating schools, every student can enjoy a free breakfast each school day. This program, funded by Wake County and Child Nutrition Services, helps students start their day focused and ready to learn. Universal Breakfast schools are evaluated annually.
