Mrs. Davis will be going into her 10th year of teaching, and her 4th year here at Brier Creek Elementary. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology and her K-6 licensure from Fayetteville State University. She also holds a Masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Gardner-Webb University. She has taught every grade except kindergarten and enjoys upper grades the most. She believes that Brier Creek is a unique place to teach and learn because of it's diverse community, dedicated teachers, and supportive school leaders.
She states her "why" for teaching as "Wanting to be a role model to her personal children as well as her class children but showing them that life has successes, struggles, and defeats but none without learning." She most looks forward to seeing growth in each and everyone of her students and continuing to set the standards high!
Mrs. Davis has two boys. Jaiden, 11 is a 7th grader at Pine Hollow Elementary School and had Mrs. Davis as his ELA/SS teacher when he attended Brier Creek. Jaiden, 7 is a 2nd grader at Brier Creek Elementary and is Mrs. Gordon's Class.
Ms. HunsbergerMrs. Hunsberger is entering her 5th year at Brier Creek Elementary. She loves Brier Creek because of the the diverse student body, the dedication of the staff, and of course the year round schedule. Mrs. Hunsberger previously taught 4th and 5th grade at Baileywick Elementary School. She has been teaching in Wake County for almost 29 years. Mrs. Hunsberger graduated from Peace College and Meredith College. The reason Mrs. Hunsberger loves teaching is to make sure each child leaves the classroom believing in his/herself. She wants students to KNOW they are capable of doing anything in life that comes at them. She wants them to become independent thinkers. Mrs. Hunsberger has high expectations for all students and believes each child can and WILL be successful. Mrs. Hunsberger looks forward to this school year and getting to know her students and families. Math and Science are her favorite subjects but she is very excited to implement the new EL curriculum and help students find and maintain the LOVE of reading.Mrs. Hunsberger has been married to her husband, Scott, for 28 years. They have 2 daughters, Allie and Hailey. Allie, a graduate from East Carolina University, has been married for a year and Hailey is a senior at UNC-Greensboro. When Mrs. Hunsberger is not at school, you can find her hanging out with family and friends. Mrs. Hunsberger LOVES the beach. She also enjoys photography and enjoys making scrapbooks.
This will be Mrs. Joyner’s first year at Brier Creek and her eleventh year teaching in North Carolina. She has taught fourth grade for the last five years and prior to that, she taught fifth grade for five years. Mrs. Joyner is excited to join the Brier Creek family and looks forward to working with a dedicated and diverse group of staff and students! She went to the State University of New York at Geneseo for her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and completed her Masters Degree in Reading and Literacy at Walden University.
Mrs. Joyner believes in setting a strong foundation in building a sense of community amongst her students. She strives to provide a nurturing, positive environment where students feel comfortable taking risks and growing as collaborators, critical thinkers, and communicators. The most exciting part of her job is to watch the growth in her students throughout the year as they learn how to work together to solve problems and discuss literature. The next best part of her job is working with other passionate educators, sharing ideas and ways to best meet their students’ needs.
When Mrs. Joyner is not at school, she loves spending time with her husband visiting family either in New York or Wilmington, NC. Her and her husband just celebrated six years of marriage! Mrs. Joyner also enjoys crafting with paper, reading, and spending time outdoors.
This is Ms. Robinson’s 4th year at Brier Creek elementary and has enjoyed every single minute building relationships with the students & parents. She is beginning her 20th year of teaching (it doesn’t feel like it!) with all those years in the Wake County Public School System in third, fourth, & fifth grades. Ms. Robinson enjoys the independence and sense of humor in the older grades, as well as watching them step up to have a voice in their own learning. She has also served as team leader & on other committees involving literacy and the Positivity Project. Ms. Robinson attended East Carolina University (Go Pirates!), graduating in 1999 with a Bachelors in Elementary Education.In November of 2009, Ms. Robinson a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of Middle Childhood and she renewal her certification this past school year!
She is passionate about Reading and developing that love in all students. She is eager to learn new things & love exploring history! She enjoys collaborating with other staff to find the best ideas & resources for all our students!Ms. Robinson believes that all students can learn & be successful! She enjoys building relationships with students to help foster the culture of a classroom community. Ms. Robinson wants to be a positive influence on her students so they can find a love for being a lifelong learner who can also strive to be a kind member of society.
