Meet the Team
Ms. Barham has been teaching for 20 years (19 in first grade, 1 in kindergarten). She has had a lot of fun experiences traveling the world and growing in her profession. She is going into her second year in kindergarten at Brier Creek. Brier Creek is a special place to teach and learn because of the enthusiasm of staff and students in the building. Ms. Barham attended the University of Southern Indiana. Her "why" is to give all students the opportunity to make their own choices. Education=more choices. She looks forward to working with her second group of kinderjets to help them soar to their full potential! Ms. Barham is an excellent teacher because she takes the time to get to know her students and their interests. Ms. Barham's passions are exploring the world and empowering children to dream big.
Ms. Braunstein has been teaching for 2 years. She has previously been an Instructional Assistant in kindergarten and first grade for 2 years. Ms. Braunstein has been teaching at Brier Creek Elementary for 2 years. Brier Creek Elementary is a special place to teach and learn because all staff in the building are committed to students' academic and personal success. Hannah Braunstein went to school at the University of Connecticut and North Carolina State University to pursue a Master's Degree in Teaching.
Hannah Braunstein chooses to teach because she wants to empower students to learn and develop a love of learning, in spite of their academic differences. She is looking forward to her third year at BCES and meeting her new KinderJets! Ms. Braunstein believes that seeing the potential in all students is her strong point as a teacher.
Hannah Braunstein is passionate about animals and learning about other people. She loves spending time with her dog, Ruby, and her Mom.
Ms. CarpenterMs. Carpenter has a BAE in Early Childhood Education from Coastal Carolina University and a Master's degree in Education and School Counseling from Clemson University. Ms. Carpenter has been teaching for fifteen years and has been at Brier Creek for the past six years. She has taught kindergarten through third grades and has been a school counselor. This is her second year teaching kindergarten. Brier Creek is a unique and special place to teach because of their wonderfully diverse group of students and families. Brier Creek works hard to build relationships and character through the Positivity Project.
Ms. Carpenter has a passion for teaching because she loves building relationships with her students and watching them grow and learn throughout the year. It amazes her that students come in with a desire to learn to read and leave voraciously reading. She is passionate about students finding their own passions and talents and encouraging children to grow to their own potential. This year she is looking forward to a new group of kindergarten students and introduce them to their first school experience. She is also excited to build new relationships and teach the 24 character strengths in the Positivity Project. What makes Ms. Carpenter's teaching style unique is her calm and loving demeanor while still holding high expectations, treating all students fairly, and pushing the students to their potential to so that they are prepared for first grade.
Ms. Carpenter has some personal passions of her own. She loves to cook and attend cooking classes to learn new techniques for her home cooking adventures. She also loves reading, movies, zip lining, hiking, being active, the beach and polka dots. She enjoys spending time with her two daughters, ages 10 and 4. They are her adventure partners!
Ms. JennetteMs. Jennette has been teaching kindergarten for five years at Brier Creek Elementary School! Brier Creek Elementary School is a unique place to teach because we have lots of involvement from our community. Brier Creek also has lots of opportunity to use different types of technology and to let students lead in the classroom. Brier Creek loves to keep our learners engaged and motivated each and everyday. Ms. Jennette went to school at Peace College and North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC to pursue a master's degree in teaching.
Ms. Jennette chooses to teach because she loves to build new relationships with students and colleagues. She wants every student to succeed and feel successful. Ms. Jennette looks forward to meeting her new students and showing them all the foundations of kindergarten! She is excited to learn all about them and their passions. What makes Ms. Jennette a good teacher is that she takes her time with each student and builds a strong relationship. She treats all students fairly and wants all students to be ready for first grade.
Ms. Jennette loves spending time with her family and her two lovable yellow labs, Ella and Lilly. She loves to go on long walks and escape to the beach. She loves to cheer on her favorite team- NC State! Go Wolfpack! Ms. Jennette has a loving family which includes two four legged babies Ella and Lilly. She also is very close to her mom, dad and sister. Ms. Jennette and her family spend lots of quality time together by the pool or going out to eat.
Ms. LipkinsTracey Lipkins has been teaching for 20 years. She has had many experiences in the classroom and school environment. Mrs. Lipkins is on her 12th year of service to Brier Creek Elementary! Brier Creek is a special place to teach and learn because it has a strong school community. Mrs. Lipkins attended North Carolina Central University. Tracey Lipkins chooses to teach because all students can learn and grow. Mrs. Lipkins thinks the best thing about teaching is the relationships that she grows with students and families. She believes that having a welcoming environment is her strong suit as a teacher. Mrs. Lipkins is passionate about participating in community service and spending time with family. She is blessed with one daughter and one son. She has been married to her high school sweetheart for 21 years.
This is Mrs. White's 3rd year of teaching, all of them here at Brier Creek Elementary. She has taught Kindergarten all 3 years. Mrs. White earned her B.S degree in Biology and her Masters in Teaching from Meredith College. Brier Creek is an amazing place to learn and grow because of the wonderful relationships that she has made over the past several years and the community involvement.
Mrs. White is passionate about helping each student be the best person they can be. Being a great learner while also being a great friend and citizen. She is excited to start the new year and create new relationships with all of the new Kindergarten students. Mrs. White is excited to Dig Deeper into the Positivity Project and incorporate this into her everyday curriculum.
