“Teaching in the Internet age means we must teach tomorrow’s skills today.” – Jennifer Fleming
As the Instructional Technology Facilitator at Oak Grove, that is where I come in. I am here to support teachers in their use of educational technology to not only motivate and engage students but to also prepare them for the world they will enter upon graduation. By working together, I will help teachers implement technology based activities in the classroom that foster an environment of creativity and critical thinking. In addition, I am working to establish a comprehensive curriculum to develop and refine students' technology skills. From learning how to use a computer to keyboarding and all the way up to creating presentations and performing research, I hope all students will leave Oak Grove with the technological skills they need to be successful in middle school and beyond.
I have been a Wake County educator since 2006. I am originally from Michigan and graduated from Michigan State University. After moving to North Carolina in 2006, I taught 5th grade for 7 years (5 of those at Oak Grove). I took a break to stay home with my twin daughters born in 2014. While home I began a Master's Program in Instructional Media and will complete that in the Spring of 2016. I am also working to obtain my Computer Education Endorsement. I am so thrilled to return to Oak Grove as the ITF and look forward to many new and exciting years ahead!
