    Math 2

We are nearing the end of unit 2 and we hopefully be testing at the end of the week.  We will then be taking a break from geometry for a while and we will go back to working with quadratic functions which we began studying last year.  We will hopefully get through most of unit 3 prior to track out.

    Compacted Math

We are about halfway through unit 3.  I had planned to be further along by now but our little break last week put a pause in my progress.  We should be finished with this unit by the middle of next week and then we will very quickly do unit 4.  This unit only has 3 sections to it so it should be no problem to zip through it before we leave at the end of the month.

    Happy New School Year

We have had a great start in all classes everyone seems to be working hard and has adjusted to new schedules grades and teachers.  It was nice to have my first ever track out.

    Compacted math

Our first unit of student involves integers.  We have started working with absolute value and ordering integers and now we are moving into using operations with integers.  All students in compacted math have been given the google classroom code gqj5zmg and know to access the videos.  I am assigning a project that will be due on August 12.  I am looking foward to seeing the hard work that they will put into these timelines.

    Math 2

The first unit of study in math 2 is very geometry based.  We spend all of our time reviewing skills that we learned in 6th grade doing tranformations.  we do take it a different level of difficulty.  The first wuiz will be on August 5

    6th Grade

Track 1 will be working with rational numbers thi week.  This means that they will be doing operations with decimals ad fractions but unlike past years they will be using integers in all of their problems to ramp up the work they are doing.

Tracks 3 and 4 will be learning all of the rules of exponents.  this is very challenging and often frustrating.  Be patient with your children as they are learning.

    Math 1

Track 1 will be finishing up unit 2 and should be ready to test on this unit by Tuesday.  There has been a lot of new skills put to use with these past 2 units and its only going to get harder.  Keep encouraging your children.

Tracks 3 and 4 are going to be taking the unit 1 test Tuesday.  This has been a big change from last year but this group has adapted well to this new way of learning.

    Math 2

Track 1 has been working hard on unit 3.  This unit is tough.  I will admit that I am struggling to learn this new way of thinking but everyone is coming around and adapting.

Tracks and 4 are working on some geometry skills and will be learning proofs.

    6th Grade

This week track 1 will be completing the probability unit.  I anticipate the test taking place on Thursday.  That will conclude all of our units of study for the year and we wil then spend the rest of our year reviewing for the EOG which for track 1 takes place on May 24.  Track 4 took a test on triangles today and we will now start work on the data and statistics unit.

    7th grade

All students are hard at work learning how to work with parabolas.  We have been foiling and factoring and solving using quadratic equations.  All tracks can find the x intercepts and the y intercept, and the vertex.  Depending on the track all tudents are at different places in unit 7 but everyone is working with a common goal in mind.

    Track 1 EOC May 29

    Tracks 2,3,4 EOC June 20

    8th Grade

Today and tomorrow everyone will be working with Proofs.  We learned them back in august and now that we are reviewing it seems to be much easier for the entire class!  Starting either Wednesday or Thursday I will give tracks 1 and 2 a review packet of the entire year to work on in preparation for the exam, while track 4 completes a few more tasks to review that the other tracks have already completed before they get their packet.

    Track 1 exam May 29

    Track 2, 3, 4 exam June 20

    6th Grade

This week in class we will be finishing up our unit of study dealing with data and statistics.  We will have our test on Wednesday and on Thursday we will begin learning about probability.

When track 4 returns on Thursday they will pick uo right where they left off studying angle relationships.  They were ready to revew and test when they left so we will see hwat they remember.

    7th Grade

We will be conitnuing our study of quadratics.  All tracks are working in the same unit they just happen to be in different parts of  the unit.  I have been working hard to help the students understand how this unit relates to the real world especially the world of sports.

    8th Grade

Since we have finished all of the new material we have been reviewing.  This week we will be looking at quadratics, transformations (in a way that we have never seen them before) and learning a new concept called completing the square which deals with quadratics.  I am trying to cover the old material in new ways to keep it fresh.

    6th grade

This week everyone will be working on angles and angle relationships.  We will also be learning how angle relationships are used when creating things such as maps and brigdes.

    7th grade

All students will be working with quadratics this week.   We will be discovering the shape and the formula and how it relates to every sport that we play.

    8th grade

Track 1 will be completing the unit on probabilit while tracks2 and 3 work on a circles unit.

    6th Grade

This week we will be working on volume and surface area of 3 dimensional figures.  We learned how to work with 2-D figures a couple of weeks ago so now we will ramp up our knowledge as we make thie figures 3-D.

    7th Grade

This week we will be completing unit 6, relating Algebra and geometry.  Thiere will be a quiz and a test on unit 6 this weekbefore we move on to unit 7.

    8th Grade

We will be continuing to work with probability this week.  We should get to the end of the unit by the end of this week or the beginning of next week.  After that it is all review!

    6th grade

This week all tracks will be working on Transformations.  We started with translations on Friday, and this week we will work with Refelctions, Rotations, and dilations.  This is a short easy unit that the students usually enjoy.

    7th Grade

Track 1 is working on the first part of the quadratics unit, this actually does more review than anything we may wait and start the hard stuff after track out!

Tracks 3 and 4 are working with geometric relationships.  There will be a quiz on Tuesday and a test next week.

    8th Grade

All tracks are working with probability and this is our last unit of study!.  Track 1 has a quiz on Monday, tracks 3 and 4 have a few more days of work to put in before the quiz.  All students will be working on concepts such as independent vs dependent probability and mutually exclusive vs inclusive probability.

    6th grade

This week track 1 will finish up the unit on area, volume and surface area.  The test will be on Wednesday.  From there, we will begin work on the unit involving tranformations.

Tracks 3 and 4 will begin working with area but they will be joining track 1 to do the unit on transformations.

    7th grade

Track 1 will be finishing up the unit that relates Algebra and geometry this week and taking on a test on Thursday.  the next unit is the Quadratics unit which is the hardest unit!

Tracks 3 and 4 will be working on the unit that relates algebra and geometry.  This unit teaches many of the algebra basics such as pythagorean theorem, distance formula and midpoint.

    8th Grade

Track 1 is working on probability.  Tracks 3 and 4 are completing the trigonometry unit and taking a test on Wednesday.  After the test they too will begin work on the probability unit.
