Single Subject Acceleration
The Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) Board of Education defines acceleration as allowing a student to move through traditional educational organizations more rapidly, based on readiness and motivation. Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of placing a student in a higher-grade level in one subject area. This type of acceleration is for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities in either math or English Language Arts.

If you are interested in having your child test for single subject area testing in math or reading.  You must fill out the form on the wcpss website. You will find this form by going to academics and selecting advanced learning, and then single subject acceleration.  Forms must be turned in to Julie Frederick between March 21st- March 25th  No requests for testing can be accepted after March 25th.  If you have any questions about SSA testing please contact Julie Frederick.  Email jfrederick2@wcpss.net
