Mrs. Kristin Small
I have been surrounded by strong role models in education my whole life. My father was my high school principal, and my mother is a middle school principal. I knew what I wanted to be “when I grow up” from a very young age. I completed my undergraduate degree in elementary education at UNC-Chapel Hill through the Teaching Fellows program. While teaching, I received a master's in Curriculum and Instruction at NC State University and a master's in Educational Leadership from UNC-Chapel Hill through the Principal Fellows program. This is my 13th year in education. I served as an Assistant Principal at Brier Creek Elementary and Hortons Creek Elementary before joining the Turner Creek community last year as the principal.
I am grateful to be a part of a strong and supportive school community and there has never been a time where those qualities have been more important. We are asking more than ever before from our students, teachers, and families as we learn and grow together in this new school environment. Now, more than ever, we need to work together to keep our children safe while they reach high levels of learning each day. Let’s partner together in this important work.
I live in Raleigh, NC with my partner, Erik, and our three children. Kinley is a second-grader at Leesville Elementary. Landon and McKenna are both entering kindergarten at Leesville Elementary this year! We also live with my mother, Cindy Kremer, who is the Principal of Leesville Middle School in Raleigh, and our dogs Penny and Jack Jack. My family enjoys spending time together at Lake Gaston and visiting the wonderful parks and museums in the area. In my free time, I enjoy reading and exercising.
