We are so excited to have some new faces around Hodge Road this year! Take a chance to get to know them a little better below.
Charlise Cunningham
Hello everyone! My name is Charlise Cunningham and this will be my first year serving as the Professional School Counselor for Hodge Road Elementary. I graduated from Lincoln University with a B.S. in Sociology and in 2018 I earned my M.Ed in School Counseling from North Carolina A & T State University.
I am entering my third year of service as a counselor and it is an honor to have the opportunity to work with the students, families, and staff at Hodge Elementary! I value all students as individuals and I serve as their advocate. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Angela GaynorOriginally from New Jersey, I was born the youngest of four in a bilingual community as my family emigrated from Cuba in the 1960’s. Growing up, I loved story-telling and writing so it was no surprise when in 1996, I graduated from Drew University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature & Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education & Bilingual/Bicultural certification. In 2006, I relocated to North Carolina with my five children. This fall, my youngest will begin her senior year in High School as my son is off to attend Drew University! Now a grandmother of three, I currently hold a Standard Professional Teaching License from the State of North Carolina in Elementary Education K-6, Cross Categorical K-12, and PreK/K add-on. My educational experiences include teaching all grades PreK-5th, creating and implementing an Academically Gifted program for students in grades 2nd-5th and most recently working as Dean of Faculty. After 24 years, my passion remains being a creative classroom teacher, and my goal is to positively inspire every child, every day. With that said, I am extremely excited to join the staff at Hodge Road Elementary School as a second-grade teacher, and I look forward to a wonderful year ahead!
Natalia MartínezHola! My name is Natalia Martínez, I am from Bogotá, Colombia in South America. I have a degree in children’s pedagogy and I have 9+ years of experience working with kids. I live with my dog Oreo and my future husband Lukas. I love to smile, dance and share time with my family. I am so excited to be part of the Hodge Rd school family this year. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with me!
Meredith RoachHello all! My name is Ms. Meredith Roach and I am so excited to begin my first year teaching as a 2nd grade teacher. I am a recent graduate from UNCW and am happy to be back in Knightdale. I’ve grown up in this area and attended local schools, so I feel right at home. I love to travel when I can and to exercise with friends and family (6-feet apart!). I can’t wait to meet all of my students and their families and make this a fun and exciting year!
Catherine RosalesHi! My name is Catherine Rosales. I graduated from NC State in December 2012 with a BA in Spanish Language and Literature with a concentration in education. I have been teaching since January 2013. I started as a Spanish teacher at Knightdale High School and then transitioned to ESL at Knightdale High. I have 2 daughters and 2 dogs and we love going on walks around our neighborhood and at the many different parks in the Raleigh area. My oldest daughter and I also enjoy finding different series on Netflix or Hulu that we can watch together. I am so excited to be working at Hodge Road Elementary this year and getting the opportunity to work in a Dual Language program. As a bilingual educator with two children who are learning both Spanish and English, helping children to speak more than one language from a young age is a passion of mine.
