Looking for a Math Challenge?
New Math Enrichment Program for Carver Elementary!
Math Challenge is designed to give elementary students opportunities to sharpen their mathematical problem-solving skills. There will be 15 sets of challenges every other week starting in late September and ending in May.
Throughout the challenges, the program covers problem solving strategies such as draw a picture or model, make an organized list, look for a pattern, working backward, and guess and check.
Here is how to participate: 1) Go to our school Math Challenge page
2) Print out the current Math Challenge.
3) Solve as many problems as you can. We encourage you to discuss strategies and solutions with your parents and siblings.
4) Submit your solutions by the due date. Submit your solution to Ms. Turner or Mrs. Wells by the due date via email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com (you can take a picture and submit or share via-google doc).
5) Prize winners are randomly selected from qualified submissions. An announcement will be made online following the due date.
We will keep track of your submissions. We will give recognition to students who at least complete 12 sets of challenges.
The program is completely free and no sign-up is necessary. This is a great opportunity for families to be involved and enjoy math through fun and engaging math problems. We encourage parents and siblings to get involved in discussing and solving them. Schedules and problem-solving strategies are available at www.mathinaction.org.
The first math challenge will be available online September 25, 2020. You have only a few days to complete the first math challenge. Due date is October 2, 2020 (no later than 3 p.m.)
