- Congratulations to our Winterguard teams who competed this Saturday at Corinth Holders High School. The Blue team finished first in their class and the Red team finished second in their class.
- Time for March Madness! Literary March Madness, that is. This year the battle features an All-Female cast of fictional characters in honor of Women's History Month. Stop by the library and fill out a bracket for each round. This week: Round 1. Will Medusa defeat Bella Swan? How about Hermione Granger versus Jo March? Who will be the strongest female standing? Choose your brackets!
- Science National Honor Society is currently accepting application for membership until 3/31. Applicants must have a 3.5 weighted GPA and a 3.75 weighted GPA in science classes. All application materials can be found on the school website under SNHS. Please see Mrs.Cattrell if you have any questions.
- In honor of National Craft Month, come to the Cube every Wednesday during both lunches to participate in Makerspace (Legos, circuitry, etc) and craft activities, like sewing newborn quilts for the UNC Chapel Hill Hospital.
- BSA will be meeting tomorrow during B half of lunch in room 4237 to discuss the upcoming Think Tank.

- Varsity Baseball won last night 14-0 over Chapel Hill.
- The International Club continues its guest speaker series on Tuesday, March 10 during both lunches. One of our AFHS international exchange students, Jana Ebid, will speak and answer questions about Egypt, her native country. Looking forward to seeing you this coming Tuesday in Room 4102. Come for one lunch or come for both. All are welcome.
- Tomorrow during both lunches in the Chorus Room come and enjoy a free ice cream social and karaoke.

- 9th - 11th grade students: Questions about registration for classes? Registration closes this weekend! Visit the counselors during STAR lunch all this week. They will be set up in front of Student Services.
- All students and parents are welcome to the College Fair in the Media Center on Thursday, March 26th from 5:00- 6:30. Thirty college representatives and the Military will be in attendance. Following, promptly from 6;30 - 7:30, there will be a guest speaker talking about Internet Safety and dangerous Apps. The presentation will be in the Auditorium.

- Calling all writers! If you love to write, take photos, work on graphic design, manage social media and websites and more, consider taking the Newspaper I course next year! Applications are available in the library and QR codes are on the library doors to get an online application. Space is limited so be sure to get your application turned in soon! - BSA will be having Mrs. Medhin, President of the United Nations NC Chapter come and speak today during lunch in room 4237. Come out to hear about her experiences as a woman of color in her field and how minority students can work to tackle today's problems. Lunch will be provided.
- Is your laptop running slow and you don't know why? Want to build your own pc, but have no idea where to start? TheComputer Hardware Club can help. Come on out to room 1223 this Thursday during lunch to receive free tech support, and computer help from the CHC Assembly Division. We're open for both A & B lunch.
- Just in time for Prom tickets, the library has posted the current Senior and Junior Library Fines and Overdues List on the library doors. Please take care of fines and overdues before prom and graduation. The sooner the better. If you have questions or concerns, please see a library staff member.

- Congratulations to out Indoor Percussion and Winterguard teams who competed at Rolesville High School last Saturday. Indoor Percussion placed 3rd out of 6 groups in their division. AFHS Winterguard Blue placed 2nd out of 7 groups in their division and AFHS Red placed 1st out of 5 groups in their division. Congratulations on your amazing performances!
- Are you interested in an International Business Degree? March 5th SKEMA International School of Business will be in the College Corner to talk about their Dual Business Degree opportunities with NCSU Poole Business school and SKEMA. Interested students should sign up in Student Services.
- This year TEAF will award up to ten scholarships of $5000 each. Forty three public high schools will each nominate two students to be considered. Interested in applying? Sign up in Student Services for an application.
- Congratulations to the Speech and Debate students who competed at AFHS this weekend. Our school hosted over 300 students from around the state who competed in various speaking and debate events. 16 AFHS students placed in their respective events, and Daniela Paris earned a bid for the national tournament in Chicago in May.
- We will administer the ACT to all Juniors tomorrow, February 25th. It is required that all Juniors take the ACT. Please make sure you arrive to your testing room on time. You should be in your testing room NO LATER than 7:25. All testing will take place on the 4th floor. There will be posters with room assignments. Please make sure to bring a photo ID. A photo ID is requireds. If you are bringing your own calculator, please check act.org for approved calculators.

- For anyone that isn't aware, we close 3 hours early today due to winter weather potential. All afterschool and evening events are canceled including Driver Education. The rising 10th grade information night is rescheduled to Tuesday, 2/25 at 6:30pm.

- Congratulations to all speech and debate team members who competed at Southview High School on Saturday. Colin Tierney was 4th in Novice Lincoln Douglas. Aidan Gallagher, Brayden Roberge and Sydney Dyer were 1st and 2nd and 10th in Impromptu Speaking. Daniela Paris was 7th in Original Oratory.
- Congratulations to Carly Manning for makine history! She becomes the first female from Apex freindship to place at the NC State Wrestling Championships earning 3rd place.
- All students are invited to join BSA tomorrow and Wednesday during lunch for snacks and a movie. We will be watching Remember the Titans starring Denzel Washington and Ryan Gosling. Bring a friend and meet us in room 4237 (Ms. Williams) starting A lunch.

- The NAACP Moral March for Equal Rights is this Saturday. BSA will be meeting in Williams room 4237 A&B lunchers to make posters. All AFHS Students are welcome and encouraged to come and learn more information about the march and make a poster.
- We have Meet The Teacher tonight beginning at 6:30. Parents should bring a copy of their child's schedule. Parents will begin in 1st period at 6:35 and continue to meet each teacher, as bells ring to change rooms.

- Seniors will meet in the auditorium today at 9:30am to learn more about senior events and graduation. They will dismiss from there for lunch.
- Girls basketball is home tonight vs. Apex High and the Men are away. Our Inspirational Cheer Team will be performing during halftime. This will be their first performance at our school. You won't regret being apart of this event.
- If you or your parents are a member of the State Employees Credit Unior and you are interested in applying for their $10,000 scholarship, please stop by student services to get more details! Due date is February 19th.
- Have you received any scholarship offers? Whether you are accepting them or not, please drop off a copy of your scholarship offer in student services.

- On behalf of the Black Student Alliance, Happy Black History Month! To celebrate, BSA will be having events throughout the month open to all! This Wednesday A&B lunches, in Ms. Williams room 4237. BSA will be amking posters for the Moral March in downtown Raleigh this Saturday. Anyone interested in marching for all human rights and equality or looking for more information is encouraged to come!
- T2P for Men's Lacrosse is tomorrow, Wed. 2/5. Meet Ms. Yelmini in the PE Hallway during lunch to receive your wrist band.
- Meet the Teacher is tomorrow night from 6:30-7:35. Parents should get a copy of their student's schedule before coming. You will walk your child's schedule beginning in 1st period at 6:35 and ending in their 4th block. Student Ambassadors will be around to help direct parents. This event is meant for parents only, due to space within each classroom.

- Spring Track Interest Meeting will be on Tuesday, February 4th during A lunch in the Main Gym. Be sure to come out for important information about tryouts. Tryouts will be February 19th - 21st.
- This weekend at the Reginonal Swim meet the Men's team finished sixth overall and the women's team finished second in the region. There will be 17 swimmers and drivers headed to states this week!
- Our Varsity cheer squad came in 2nd at States this weekend.
- All Basketball teams won on Friday, sweeping Middle Creek.
- Congratulations to AJ DeSanto and Brayden Roberge for placing 3rd in Public Forum Debate at this weekend's tournament at Croatan High School.
- Congrats to TSA VEX Robotics Team B for being a Tournament Finalist and winning the Design Award at this weekends Triangle Robotics League Championship Tournament. Clay Bruce, Joey Fleming, Aidan Frutos, Jacob Tennant, Mohammed Elmzoudi, and Ryan Lutz are not qualified to compete in the North Carolina VEX Robotics Championship Tournament in Concord NC March 7th.
- Congratulations to the following students for being selected into the East Central District Honors Band: Hayden Silvester, Rebecca Bridenbaugh, Hannah Kodadek, Lauren Grimsrud,Christopher Fields, Payton Wurst, and Holden Taylor. - Science Olympiad teams are competing in their regional tournament at Southeast Raleigh High School tomorrow! Both teams are competing for a chance to move on to the State tournament. Members: please attend a mandatory meeting today during A lunch in room 3222. If you are unable to attend, contact Ms. Boyd.

Ms. Yelmini will collect your paperwork in the PE hallway, during both lunches, and issue you a Ticket to Play wrist band. Without this wrist band you will not be allowed to try out. - Congrats to both of our swim teams on their tremendous wins last night vs. Wake Forest, Heritage and Apex.
- We have basketball tonight. Boys are home and the ladies are at Apex High. Reminder to our fans, we want excited and enthusiastic students, cheering on our team, but we will not tolerate poor sportsmanship. If a student breaks this rule they will be escorted out of the building and banned from future AFHS sporting events for the remainder of the school year. So make good choices.

- Are you currently a senior? A senior who meant to turn in a senior quote for the yearbook but who simply forgot? Danya? Dordanna? Well, if you still want to submit a senior quote, you're in luck: this week only, you can still turn your quote in to either Mr. Stapleton in 2236 or Ms. Villafranca in the main office . Just write it down on a piece of paper and give it to us - do it!
- Mrs. Wilson is holding a prom ticket design interest meeting this Thursday 1/9, in Room 4213 during A lunch for students who might be interested in creating the design that will go on this year's prom poster and tickets. She will go over what is expected of the deisgn in the meeting. This is a great opportunity for students wishing to add to their portfolio and/or showcase their artistic and design capabilities.

- Congratulations to our Basketball members. They were very busy during the break. Our Men and Women's varsity teams won the Northwoords 1st Bank Charger Classic Tournament and our JV men's won the Holiday Classic-Bank OZK tournament!
- The International Club continues its guest speaker series on Tuesday, January 7th, A & B lunches, in room 4102. AFHS student, Ilia Mikaili, will speak and answer questions about Iran, his native country.
- In preparation for exams, Silent Study starts today during lunch in the library. If you need a quiet place to prepare for exams, the library is the place to focus.
