Learn how to start your driver education journey. This program helps students build safe driving skills and meet state requirements.
Program overview
The Wake County Public School System partners with Jordan Driving School to offer driver education for eligible students.
To complete the program, you must:
- Complete 30 hours of classroom instruction.
- Complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training.
Most students finish within 6 months, but timelines vary by school.
There are no academic requirements to enroll in driver education. However, students must meet academic standards to be eligible for a permit or license after completing the course.

Register for Driver Ed
Find current class offerings and registration on the Jordan Driving School website.
Registration steps
- You must be at least 14½ years old on the first day of class.
- Visit jordandriving.com to view available dates and register.
- After you are assigned to a class, you will get instructions to pay the $65 fee to finalize registration.
- Classes are offered:
- After school hours
- On Saturdays
- During school breaks
- In the summer
Important: Students dismissed due to behavioral or attendance issues may not re-enroll through WCPSS.
