  • Shadow Day at UNC Chapel Hill - Juniors ONLY

Space is limited!  Apply now  - link below

I am Andrew Spratley, the Outreach Coordinator for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s (UNC-CH’s) Order of the Bell Tower. Order of the Bell Tower serves as the official student ambassadors and tradition keepers for the University. One of the main events we hold is Shadow Day, where we invite high school Juniors to visit campus. They attend a class with a UNC student, take a tour, eat in our dining hall, and learn more about Carolina and college life. It is a great opportunity, and we want to extend the invitation to students in your district.

This year’s program will take place on November 4th from around 9 AM to around 4 PM. A continental breakfast and lunch in one of our dining halls will be provided for students and their parent/guardian they bring with them. They will be given many great resources throughout the day, such as an Admissions and Financial Aid presentation. Attending this event is completely free and students are not committing to anything by coming. All they will need is an adult to accompany them and transportation to and from UNC-CH.

This event has no bearing on admittance into UNC-CH, nor will it hinder anyone for not attending.

For our Fall Shadow Day, we would like to invite Juniors who hope to attend a college or university, whether it is Carolina, a UNC system school, or another institution. We want to equip them with the tools necessary to prepare them for applying to college, as well as to help them make the best college decision

Currently, we are expecting to take around 25 - 30 students, but this will depend on the availability of our members.

Attached to this email is a student registration form and a flier that can easily be posted on social media. We have also attached a form for counselors, administrators, and teachers to include their contact information if they would like to generate a future direct mailing list for our outreach events. We would greatly appreciate it if you would be willing to distribute this to the counselors at schools in your district.

We will provide more information when students are selected. If there are any questions, comments, or concerns, please direct them to me: Andrew Spratley. I can be reached by email at spratley@unc.edu. Thank you for your time and consideration of this request. We look forward to seeing your students on campus during Shadow Day.
