NCDHHS requires everyone age 5 and older to wear face coverings when indoors at schools, preschools, and on school or vendor transportation on days when students are in the building. They can be removed when actively eating or drinking. Face coverings are optional for everyone when outdoors.
On days when no students are in the school building, face coverings will be optional indoors for employees and visitors. If a student is present, employees must wear a face covering.
Face coverings will also be optional for employees at Central Services who are not likely to interact with children and for visitors to these sites, including visitors to Board of Education and committee meetings.
Anyone who is not fully vaccinated is strongly encouraged to wear a face covering and maintain 6 feet of social distance.

Relationships among students, teachers and families are the foundation for a successful learning experience. That is why we eagerly await the time when we can once again see all students in person each and every day.
We acknowledge, however, that some families may not be comfortable with in-person instruction and some have had success with Virtual Academy. This is why WCPSS will provide a Virtual Academy program for grades K-12, along with a virtual option for Pre-K, for the 2021-22 school year pending final approval by the school board.

Through June 30, 2022, all children age 18 and under may receive breakfast and lunch at no cost via Curbside and Big Bus Food Truck Pop-up locations. Meals are also free to all Wake County students when they are at school for in-person instruction. Meals will not be available on holidays designated on the student’s calendar.

Love the Bus!
February is Love the Bus Month!
February is Love the Bus Month, and we are encouraging all schools to find meaningful ways to pay tribute to our hard-working bus drivers. It's a great time to let them know just how much they mean to our students and families. During this annual event, bus drivers are celebrated with cards, signs, gifts and special meals. You can contact your teacher or principal to ask how your school is planning to show appreciation. Share photos on social media using the hashtag #lovethebus

Work Smarter not Harder
by Velinda Prince on 3/3/2022 Length: 2 minutesIt is easy enough to pick a program and implement it but if you really want to make an impact, determining needs and systematically examining problems is a much better way to go about it! We speak with Velinda Prince about her process of using data to determine what to do to help students and staff and why.
Q & A

I am leaving WCPSS before all of these bonuses are paid. Will I still receive all of them?
Posted by:Bonuses have specific employment dates associated with them, so individuals employed on specific dates are eligible for the bonus being paid that month. For example, the bonus being paid this month was approved for all permanent part-time and full-time employees employed and in active pay status on Nov. 2. Individuals not employed in January 2022, May 2022, or November 2022 are not eligible for those bonuses.
-
Will we receive bonuses in a separate check?
Posted by:No, they payments will be part of your paycheck during each of the months local bonuses are scheduled to be paid.
