Stability Rules

  • The stability transfer gives certain students the option of staying at the school they currently attend even if their assignment changes. All eligible students who submit their request during the request period, Dec. 13 - Jan. 2, will have their request approved. Eligible students will be contacted with additional information about the request process. Students with approved requests will not receive district transportation.

     

    Elementary and Middle School Students - for students who in this proposal would be assigned to a new school: Apex Friendship Elementary, Barton Pond Elementary or Herbert Akins Middle

     

    • Students rising to grades 5 or 8 who are affected by this proposal would be eligible to submit a stability transfer application and stay at their current school.
    • Their siblings would be eligible to also request to stay at their current school for one year.
    • After one year, siblings would be assigned to their new base school.
    • Requests can be made during a special application period Dec. 13 - Jan. 2.
    • Eligible students do not receive district transportation.

     

    Elementary and Middle School Students - for students who in this proposal would be assigned to Green Hope Elementary, Davis Drive Middle, Durant Road Elementary, Lynn Road Elementary, Pleasant Grove Elementary and York Elementary currently assigned to a capped/overflow school

     

    • Students rising to grades 5 or 8 who are currently assigned to a capped or overflow school and are affected by this proposal would be eligible to submit a stability transfer application and stay at their current school.
    • Their siblings would be eligible to also request to stay at their current school for one year.
    • After one year, siblings would be assigned to their new base school.
    • Requests can be made during a special application period Dec. 13 - Jan. 2.
    • Eligible students do not receive district transportation.
    • This would apply to students proposed to be assigned to the following schools as part of this enrollment plan:
      • Green Hope Elementary (from Hortons Creek)
      • Davis Drive Middle (from Mills Park Middle)
      • Durant Road Elementary (From Abbotts Creek Elementary)
      • Lynn Road Elementary (from Sycamore Creek Elementary)
      • Pleasant Grove Elementary (from Northwoods Elementary)
      • York Elementary (from Sycamore Creek Elementary)

     

    Elementary and Middle School Students – reassigned from an existing to an existing school (excluding those listed in the groups above for new schools, capped and overflow schools)

     

    • All current elementary and middle school students who are currently assigned to an existing non-capped or overflow school and are affected by this proposal would be eligible to submit a stability transfer application and stay at their current school.
    • Siblings of eligible students may also request to stay at their current school. Once approved, they will be eligible to remain at this school with no district transportation with no limitation on time.
    • Requests can be made during a special application period Dec. 13 - Jan. 2.
    • Eligible students do not receive district transportation.

     

    High School Students – existing school to existing school

     

    • All current students in grades 9, 10, and 11 whose assignments are proposed to change from an existing school to an existing school (i.e. Leesville High to Broughton High) are eligible to request a stability transfer and remain at their current school through 12th grade.
    • Siblings of eligible students will also have their transfer requests approved if submitted during the designated period.
    • Eligible students and their siblings who request to remain at their current school are considered transfer students and no district bus transportation will be provided.
    • Requests can be made during a special application period Dec. 13- Jan. 2.  
    • Eligible students do not receive district transportation.
