Degrees and Certifications:

Mrs. Lourdes Reaves

My name is Lourdes Reaves and I was born and raised in Brooklyn/Queens, NY from Puerto Rican parents. When I graduated High School, I wanted to travel and serve my country. I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served 4 years active duty from 1997-2001. I met my husband (who is from South Dakota) in Okinawa, Japan! When we completed our enlistment, we decided to go to college at the University of South Dakota...Go Yotes! While at USD, I completed my Bachelors in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten Endorsement and also completed my Masters as a Reading Specialist/Literacy Coach. Teaching reading is a passion for me!

The Reaves Crew moved from South Dakota this July and we consist of my husband Jeremie, our 15-year old daughter Maria, and our 10-year old son Mateo. We also have a german shepard named Keisel (after Brett Keisel from Steelers) and a black lab named Goose. We are a loud bunch and love to laugh! We also love to travel and EAT FOOD! When I am not teaching, I love to run! I have completed more than 15 marathons, a few Ultra-marathons, and am obsessed with trail running-so I hope to find some cool trails to run in North Carolina!

Enviromental Connections excites me because...

I am lucky to be here because I love the idea of being able to facilitate and lead by example the core values of what it means to contribute to our environment and community is positive ways. I am always excited to see our learners immerse themselves into this culture and spread their knowledge like little pollinators!
