Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Yesenia Wright

Hi! I am originally from New Jersey, but I've lived here for over 10 years. I speak English and Spanish, and I'm Puerto Rican, Cuban, and Nicaraguan. I graduated from East Carolina University with my Bachelor's Degree in Public Health. I then decided I wanted to be a teacher and went to NC State to get my Master's Degree in Elementary Education. I just can't get away from school, so here I am, back in 2nd grade!

I'm married and my husband and I have a wild toddler. Any free time that I have is dedicated to spending time with my family. I enjoy playing with my daughter and teaching her new things every single day! They grow up so fast and family time is truly priceless. Otherwise, I simply enjoy simple activities to relax. My favorite things to do include listening to podcasts, exercising, and walking the trails at different parks.

Our magnet theme excites me because...

My undergraduate degree is in Public Health with a concentration in Community Health. I love that even though I didn't pursue a career in that field, I'm still able to tie it in while teaching at MECME. I love that students have endless opportunities and are pushed to explore the world around us. I'm excited about all the outdoor learning spaces too!
