Ms. Blackmon began her career teaching 4th grade in Corona, CA, in 1997 and looped to 5th grade with her class the following year. She moved to San Jose, CA, in 1999, teaching 4th and 5th grades there until 2003. Ms. Blackmon came to NC in 2004 and taught 5th grade at FVES for 5 years before becoming a founding member of the Traiblazer Staff in 2009. She began at Banks teaching 5th grade, moving to 3rd grade in 2013. Ms. Blackmon says, "Over the years, the word BELIEVE has become my cornerstone in teaching. I love to see the power of BELIEVING come to fruition as the school year progresses. Reflecting back on all the accomplishments that came from BELIEVING is my favorite part of teaching!"
Ms. Blackmon has been married to her husband, William, for 20+ years. Together they are raising their daughter, Madilyn, who is in high school. As a family, they love hanging out with their two dogs (Baily & Pugsley), promoting cheerleading, and traveling to Clemson University to cheer on her nephew, Rhett. Go Tigers! In her free time, Ms. Blackmon likes to scrapbook, read, and be outdoors.
