Degrees and Certifications:
Miss Andrea Murdick
Ms. Murdick was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA (Go Steelers!) She taught in Phoenix, Arizona before moving to North Carolina. She has been teaching for 5 years and this is her third year at Wiley. She is very excited to be a part of the Wiley family and is looking forward to this school year. Ms. Murdick graduated from Asbury University with a degree in Elementary Education. She is also certified to teach Middle School English, Science, and Social Studies.
Ms. Murdick loves to travel and would like to be able to visit every continent in her lifetime. She has been blessed to have had opportunities to explore our world. During college she taught for a summer in South Korea. This was her first international trip and she is so grateful that she was able to explore such a beautiful country. Her favorite memory is her first meal with her colleagues in Taejon, South Korea. It took them almost two hours to eat their first meal because they only had metal chopsticks and a spoon to use as eating utensils. (There were no forks available!)
One of the UN Sustainability Development Goals that resonates most with Ms. Murdick is “ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”. She was able to be a part of a medical mission to the Dominican Republic. It was here that she was able to see firsthand the struggles for basic health care and the lack of health education. She worked alongside a doctor and nurse to help administer medical aid to villagers. They were able to host classes for villagers to learn basic first aid and CPR.
