To our Teacher Leaders- (Mr. Clark, Ms. Haight, Mrs. Piner, Mrs. A. Smith, Mrs. Rosales, Mr. Perrin, Mrs. G. Smith, and Mrs. Lewis) who will present information on ELA and Math curriculums, as well as how to navigate student anxiety at our Parent Charger Night on Tuesday, Oct. 15. School Announcements and Upcoming Events
Parent Charger Night is one week away on Tuesday, October 15th from 4-7. The night is different than last year's curriculum night. The purpose of this night is to connect, engage and inform parents in curricula and other aspects of a student's middle school experience. Instead of following your child's schedule, you get to choose sessions that are most meaningful to you. *Please note that individual teachers will not be available during this event. The gym will be open for students to go while parents attend the sessions. It is strongly encouraged that students do not attend the session on anxiety and social media. We prefer parents to hear the information first and then determine what information to share with your child. Pizza and snacks will be available for purchase at the concession stand. Please sign up for sessions you wish to attend by clicking the following link: https://parentchargernight2019.sched.com
NJHS-Students who received invitations to apply to NJHS are expected to have the application turned in by 3:30 on Tuesday, October 15th to either the front office or Mrs. McConnell. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Mrs. McConnell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
School Dance-On Friday, October 25, 2019, Student Council will be hosting a school dance. The Fright Night dance is from 7-9pm and will cost $5. Tickets will be sold at lunch during the week leading to the dance. Tickets will also be sold at the door. Costumes are not required but highly encouraged. Concessions will be sold during the dance so bring extra money for food and drinks. Drop off will be in front of the school but pick up will either be in the carpool lane (6th grade) or bus loop (7th and 8th grade). All students must be picked up no later than 9:15. We look forward to another fun filled evening for our students.
SOCKtober at AFMS. During the entire month of October, students and staff are asked to donate as many pairs of new socks as possible. All donated socks will be given to "Note in the Pocket," an organization which helps Wake County students in need. The goal once again is to collect 5,000 pairs of new socks before October 31st
Student Lunches: In an effort to maintain an orderly lunch environment, we are requesting that parents refrain from or limit bringing take-out (restaurant/fast food) for student lunches. If students forget their lunch or lunch money, we have an established school account, thanks to our PTSA, which will allow students to have a school lunch.
Student Check-Out Reminder- please refrain from checking your child out of school or requesting transportation changes after 2:30, as we can’t guarantee that information will be shared with your child during this short time frame prior to school dismissing at 3:00.
