Ms. Mann

Hello Yates Mill families!  My name is Ginny Mann, and I am the School Social Worker here at Yates Mill Elementary.  I received my undergraduate degree from Elon University in 2007 in International Studies and Anthropology.  I graduated in 2009 from New York University with my Master's Degree in Social Work and obtained my clinical license in 2011.  I have been a Social Worker for over 10 years and have worked in a variety of roles including community-based outreach and as an inpatient clinical social worker.  This is my first time working in the school system, and I am so happy to be joining the Yates Mill family.

School Social Workers can assist families in a variety of ways including providing community resources to access basic needs such as food, housing, and clothing.  I can also help families experiencing a crisis such as homelessness, a death in the family, divorce, financial crisis, or fire.  Additionally, I work with other members of the Student Services team to address emotional, mental health, or behavioral concerns.  I sometimes meet one on one with students or as a group to assist in the development of social skills and provide coping strategies.  Another important part of my role is monitoring attendance, and educating families about the importance of NC's Compulsory Attendance Law as every child has the right to an education - learning is the foundation for success in adulthood!

In my personal life, I am a mommy of 2 little boys and have been married to my husband for 15 years.  We have lived in several states including New York and Virginia but are happy to be back in NC as of 2020 and close to family.  I look forward to getting to know your family and providing assistance in any way I can.
