Hello!  I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Austin Mercer and I am so excited to be your child’s 5^th grade teacher this year!

This will be my seventh year teaching and my second year at Pleasant Grove.  I am so happy to be a part of the Flyer family!  Before my time at Pleasant Grove, I taught 4^th grade for five years at Bailey Elementary in Nash County.   I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University.  Outside of teaching I enjoy spending time with my wife (who teaches at Daniels Magnet Middle School), going to the beach with our dog, Pippa, and playing golf.

I am thrilled to be starting on this year’s journey with your children!  I look forward to watching them learn, grow and have a fantastic time in 5^th grade!
