2019-2020 Broughton High School Parking Information Message 2 – July 2, 2019 The following updated information is intended for Broughton High School rising seniors and juniors, their parents, and their guardians:
Note - The cost for student parking on campus during the 2019 - 2020 school year is established by the WCPSS School Board and remains $200.
Starting July 3, 2019 students can make online payments through the Wake County Public Schools Online School Payments (OSP) portal: Parking Portal
A total of 155 parking spaces were made available for the use of student parking during the 2019 - 2020 school year. All of these student spaces are located in the parking lots adjacent to Peace Street. Rising seniors and juniors, who completed 25 hours of community service for each completed year of attendance at Broughton High School, had the opportunity to participate in the parking lottery by signing up in the main office between April 23rd and May 10th. Over 250 students registered. Parking assignments were made through a random drawing with the priority of assignments having been given to rising seniors. The results of the lottery were posted by the main office doors last May. All spaces have been assigned to qualified seniors. A small number of qualified seniors were not selected to receive a parking spot in the lottery and have been placed on the top of the standby list. All qualified juniors who applied have been placed in random order and have also been placed on the standby list. Students, who have been assigned a parking space, have the opportunity to pay for their spaces through the preferred method of using the Wake County Public Schools Online School Payments (OSP) portal, which opens July 3rd, 2019. The window for the payment period closes on July 31st, 2019. Any parking spaces not paid for/claimed by July 31st, 2019 may be re-distributed to the standby list starting in early August, 2019. Students who make OSP payments should keep their receipt as proof of payment. Students who have paid for their spot will receive a temporary parking tag/card in the mail in early August, which is good for the first two weeks of the 2019 – 2020 school year. The temporary tag will also provide a map showing parking space locations on the obverse side of the card. This temporary parking tag /card should be displayed on the dashboard of students’ vehicles while parking on campus as proof of parking assignment. Parkers will also need to complete 2019 - 2020 parking safety and parking registration forms found on the school’s web site. Once the forms are filled out, they can be turned in to the main office and the student’s permanent tag will be issued starting on August 29th. Students must pick up their permanent tags and turn in their completed registration forms by September 6th in order to avoid a temporary or permanent loss of their parking privileges. Rights to use a student parking spot are not transferable.
