My name is Victoria Hodge and I am thrilled to be joining the fifth grade team here at Buckhorn Creek! This is my fourth year teaching since graduating from Elon University in May of 2016 with a BA in Elementary Education. I also completed double minors in Psychology and Poverty & Social Justice. I have spent the past few years teaching in Onslow County but am looking forward to returning to Wake- the school system in which I grew up! I am excited to continue my teaching career here, at Buckhorn Creek, and to introduce my students to international partnerships that will allow them to become global learners.

I am recently married and have three cats: Bud, Maxine, and Flounder. When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling, reading a good book on the beach, and hiking.

Ahoy Buccaneers! My name is Courtney Carroll and I have been teaching since 2014. I started my teaching career in Harnett County. I have taught grades 3 and 4. I grew up in Angier, NC and attended Campbell University in which I received a degree in Elementary Education. I am very excited to join you on our journey with this new school in this new school year.

When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my husband and family, including our dog. Our dog’s name is Possum, who is a very energetic dog. I have had him since he was a puppy. You can also find me reading a book, baking, or decorating for the holidays once they get closer.

Ahoy Buccaneers! My name is Amanda Merrell-Goncalves, but I go by Mrs. G. I am ecstatic to be apart of the Buckhorn  community. I was born and raised in sunny, Southern California. I received my undergraduate degree from, Hope International University, in Children’s Ministry. I went on later to receive my multiple subjects teaching credential, as well as my Masters of Science in Education from, California Baptist University. It was in the Winter of 2017 that my family and I began to call beautiful North Carolina, home.  I have been teaching since 2011 and have had the wonderful opportunity to teach 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade. I believe in establishing a safe and positive learning environment for all students; that allows all students to be successful. The students are my why, to what I do!

When I am not in the classroom, you can often find me with my three daughters, and husband. We enjoy traveling, kayaking, swimming and volunteering in the community. When given the opportunity you will often find me creating a new recipe in the kitchen to try. I love to bake!
