Ahoy mateys! My name is Sarah Fitzgerald Newton, but most of our Buccaneers call me Musiclady.  I have been at Bryan Road since the inaugural voyage and love being a Buccaneer. I grew up on a family farm in Johnston County and moved to eastern Pennsylvania for almost 10 years along the way. Now, I live in Clayton with my dog Rusty. I enjoy traveling, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family when I’m not at work. 

I earned my bachelor of music degree from Meredith College and my master’s degree from Walden University with a focus on coaching and mentoring. I have been a music teacher for over 24 years in North Carolina and Pennsylvania and love teaching young people the incredible language of music! Our young musicians will learn how to read, write, and perform music from many different cultures during our time together and have lots of FUN! I want every student to uncover their hidden musical treasures at Bryan Road and go for the GOLD!  I can’t wait to get to know our Buccaneers as we embark on this voyage together.
