Ms. Schimmelfing

This is my eighth year teaching preschool and my second year in Wake County. I am excited to be part of the OCE team! I grew up on a farm in rural Virginia. My mom was an Early Childhood Special Education teacher for 30 years which influenced my passion for helping young children. Once I started college, I saw teaching as a great way to make a difference in the lives of children. I received my undergraduate degree in Sociology and Elementary Education from Roanoke College and completed my student teaching on a US Army base in Vilseck, Germany. After a couple years of teaching preschool in Virginia, I decided to go back to school for my masters. I received my Masters of Education in Early Childhood Intervention and Family Support from UNC - CH and have taught in Virginia and North Carolina since graduating. I met my husband at UNC and we are loving life in North Carolina with our puppy, Howard! I enjoy reading, walking/running/hiking, relaxing at the beach, and I love to travel (I have been to about 20 countries, covering 4 continents).
