Why BYOD?

BYOD allows for students who already have devices they are using at home to use those devices at school. It also allows students who have limited or no access to electronic devices at home to have more frequent access during the school day to the limited number school devices. The goal is to ideally set up a 1:1 (1 device for each student) environment where every student has access to the same online instructional resources and tools at the same time. Wake County has a website that gives more some information about BYOD and contains a great video that explains why schools should consider adopting a BYOD program.
