    2017 Junior Leadership Conference at Meredith College

    The Meredith College Office of Student Leadership and Service, in conjunction with the Office of Admissions, cordially invites female, high school juniors to participate in a free conference to develop and sharpen leadership skills. Please be mindful that this event is limited to only 250 participants, so registration is required for this event.

    Tar Heel Girls State

    Tar Heel Girls State is a week long workshop in the legislative process sponsored by the North Carolina American Legion Auxiliary. North Carolina's program is the longest continuously-running Girls State program in the United States. For a week in June, approximately 250 of North Carolina's most promising rising high school senior girls from every part of the state come together to learn about and  participate in various parts of government. In the following pages, you will see different parts of the program and be linked to other web sites to learn more about North Carolina's and the United States's government.

    Tarheels Boys' State
    Tar Heels Boys State is sponsored by the American Legion Department of North Carolina. The program is designed for junior, male students interested in leadership and a detailed study of Government. Tar Heel Boys' State is a program designed to improve citizenship for present and future generations of Tar Heels. The program allows for young men to become familiar with the structure of North Carolina government and its political process using the LEARN TODAY LEAD TOMORROW concept of instruction. The program also develops civic leadership, and arouse a keen interest in the detailed study of government.
