Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Magaly Alicea
I arrived at Carpenter Elementary about five years ago and it continues to be an amazing journey every day I am here. I have been teaching in North Carolina for eleven years. I have experience teaching grades K-6. I’ve also have had the opportunity in other Wake County schools to be the Literacy Coach and Reading Specialist.
I received my Master’s in Literacy from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2013. I’ve always had a passion for reading and a love of books. I embrace technology and how it has helped attract more readers and different learning styles.
This year at Carpenter I am the Reading Specialist/ESL Teacher and the Test Coordinator. I work with an amazing group of educators and administrators. My positions allow me to support students, parents, teachers, and administrators. I help students acquire their academic reading goals and teach students how to read, speak, write and listen in English as a second language. I am bilingual myself and I understand the struggles students face each day. I am very blessed to be here at Carpenter to support our Chameleons and teach them that, “YES, THEY CAN!”
