Hi Flyers! Being the reading intervention teacher at Pleasant Grove Elementary, allows me the ability to dig deeper into student’s learning abilities and ensure they are learning at their best. I have worked in Wake County Public Schools since 2007, teaching 3rd and 4th grade at Baucom and Laurel Park Elementary before the opening of Pleasant Grove. My education was completed at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids Michigan, graduating with an Integrated Science Major and a Minor in Elementary Education. What?! Aren’t you the reading teacher? Although my degree is in Science, I have a Masters in Early Childhood and am also a National Board Certified teacher. Although I am the reading intervention teacher, I also help teachers with academic and behavior interventions in their classrooms. Not being a North Carolina native, I feel that I have lived in NC long enough to call it my home. My husband, son, two loving puppies, Moose and Milo, and I live in Durham.  Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, yoga, beach adventures and of course, reading. I am very excited to be teaching at Pleasant Grove Elementary and am even more excited to venture on this special journey of learning with your child.
