I moved to North Carolina from Grand Rapids, Michigan in June of 2007. My education was completed at Grand Valley State University where I graduated with an Integrated Science Major and Elementary Education minor. My major encompasses Biology, Geology, Physics, and Chemistry. In August of 2009, I obtained my Masters in Early Childhood from Grand Valley State University. In November of 2011, I achieved my certification as a National Board Teacher. I have had experience teaching third and first grade in Grand Rapids, Michigan before moving to North Carolina. Throughout the summer months in Michigan, I assisted with the development of a summer camp for first-third graders, Storybrook which was part of a larger camp, SpringHill. I served as an area director, managing 40 campers and 8 counselors each week. I have taught third grade at Baucom Elementary in Apex and third and fourth grade at Laurel Park Elementary. My experience not only has been in the United States, but has also extended to Tasmania, Australia, where I taught grades 5/6. When I am not teaching, I enjoy running, yoga, beach adventures and reading. I also enjoy traveling with my husband and son and hanging out with my two puppies, Moose and Milo.
