Degrees and Certifications:
I'm originally from Huntington, West Virginia and a graduate of Marshall University. You've heard of it. We Are...MARSHALL! I obtained my Bachelors of Education degree in 2000 and hit the road to Raleigh, North Carolina. I was a teacher in Wake County for 5 years. During that time, I taught 3rd grade and loved every minute of it. However, after marrying my husband and having our first child, I decided that my desire to be a full time mom was to be my most important job.
My 8 years at home with my two kids were wonderful! During that time, I was able to attend East Carolina University as part of the graduate distance education program. It was very rewarding to continue my education and fulfill a lifelong goal of getting my Masters of Education in Reading degree. Go Pirates!! This school year marks my 10th year of teaching and I look forward to continuing my own professional growth as an educator at Pleasant Grove Elementary.
In my spare time, I'm usually with my husband watching our kids play sports, hiking or just enjoying the outdoors. We have recently adopted an adorable puppy named Stanley. Also, we have a sweet rabbit named Fluffers and my daughter has two gerbils named Salt and Pepper.
