Hello and Welcome to Speech/Language at Ballentine Elementary!
I began my career working for Wake Co. Public Schools in 1997 serving as a Language Impaired teacher for seven years. I then began working as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), evaluating and treating students with educationally or functionally relevant communication problems.
I grew up in Greensboro, NC and moved to Durham NC to attend NC Central University where I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and earned my Master of Education in Communication Disorders. Over the past 20 years, I have serviced students in need of remediation for articulation/phonological disorders, language/social delays, fluency & voice disorders, hearing impairment, learning disabilities, and students with swallowing difficulties.
In my speech room, we work hard to accomplish our speech and language goals, but I also love to keep it as fun as possible. I do occasionally send activities to work on at home so that students can practice their skills outside of school and make faster progress.
I enjoy working with children and look forward to a wonderful year!
