Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Laura Binnick
I love everything about the visual arts. The brainstorming, the history, the art making process, the final product, and interpretation of art work. I love that ideas for art projects can come from anywhere at any time!
I am originally from Wisconsin, and have lived in Cary, NC since 2007. I have been teaching professionally since 2002. I hold my certifications in Art Education K-12, Elementary Education K-6, as well as my Reading Specialist certification. Additionally, I have focused on post graduate work in the area of Gifted and Talented education. Personally, my favorite art medium to work with is watercolor and pen. I also enjoy creating metal and beaded jewelry.
I believe that everyone can learn something new every day. Visual Arts gives children a chance to bring their ideas, dreams, sense of humor, and personality to life. I love working with elementary aged children, and try to expose them to various art materials, art history, and artist information to create a well-rounded art class experience that is engaging and fun.
I am blessed to have a wonderful husband and two children. My daughter, Allie, is 4. My son, Myles is 2. Family is very important to me. When I am not at school, I enjoy being with my family, catching up with friends, reading, traveling, exercising, shopping, and meeting new people. One of my favorite quotes said by Oliver Wendell Holmes is, “One’s mind, once stretched by a new idea, never regains its original dimensions.” My favorite sport is tennis, favorite colors are aqua and royal blue, and I have always been interested in fashion, nutrition, and of course…art!
