I grew up in Elkhart, Indiana. My hometown is in Northern Indiana town near the Michigan state line. As a child I enjoyed letting my imagination run rampant. My kindergarten teacher compared me to that of the main character in the Ramona Quimby books by Beverly Cleary. I enjoyed riding my bike, playing in the small creek behind my house, and going to the public library to pick out books with my family. I grew up and lived in the same house from the time I was born until I moved down to North Carolina at age twenty-four.

I felt the need for a little change after graduating college from Indiana University in June of 2006 so, I picked up and moved to North Carolina. I selected Wake County as my new home after interviewing to teach fourth grade at Carpenter Year Round Elementary School. I started on track 3, fourth grade at Carpenter but ended up finishing the school year at Barwell Road Year Round Elementary School teaching third grade. In July of 2011 I joined the staff at Laurel Park teaching 5th grade and then moved to third grade in July of 2012. I recently purchased my first home in Apex, North Carolina which I share with my dog Frankie. Frankie is an Australian Shepherd and terrier mix. My hairy child (Frankie), loves to take road trips, go to the beach, hike, and explore new parks with me.
