• The WYMLA School Community is recruiting mentors to work with young men in grades 6-10 for the 2019-2020 School Year.

     
    Mentoring  

     

    Key Features of the Mentoring (Check and Connect) Program

     
    • A mentor works with a student and his family for a minimum of 1 full school year

    • Check-regular checks, utilizing data provided by the school regarding the students’ school adjustment, behavior, and educational progress.

    • Connect-timely interventions, driven by data, to reestablish and maintain students’ connection to school and learning and to enhance students’ social and academic competencies.

    • Engagement with Families-mentors engage with parents and strive to foster their active participation in their child’s education

     

    Suggested communication between mentors and mentees:

     
    • Student-weekly 30-60 minute meeting

    • Family-weekly check in via phone or e-mail

    • School staff- weekly check in via phone or e-mail
