Junior Achievement EventOn Tuesday, May 24, 8th grade students participated in a career development event sponsored by Junior Achievement called, "It's My Future". Eight volunteers from the NY Life and Price WaterhouseCoopers presented and did hands-on-activities to help students learn about the following topics: Personal Brand, Career Clusters, High-Growth Careers, Career Mapping, Job Searching, and How to Keep or Lose a Job. Below are some student comments about what they learned from the Junior Achievement event:
- Today, I looked into some interesting jobs. We looked at how setting goals can help our future and how our personal image affects first impressions. ---Ethan Finsel, 8th Grade Student
- In order to a keep a job, you need to practice your soft skills and the way you act and treat others will effect your job. It is important to make sure your social media sites are clean. ---Arianna Gernhard
- I learned that it takes about 5-8 seconds to make either a good or bad visual impression and I learned about high-growth jobs in the STEM and Health Science career clusters.--Alaina Brock
