Mrs. Montague holds a BA in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tarheels!) Born and raised in Raleigh, she has traveled extensively, including Russia, the British Isles, Finland, Italy, Spain, Costa Rica, Honduras, Ecuador, Peru and Tanzania. She enjoys reading with her two children and traveling in the summers to show them what the world has to offer. Mrs. Montague firmly believes that a strong education inspires children to believe they can make a difference in the world around them. Of the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, Number 16, which speaks to providing access to justice for all, is what Mrs. Montague embraces most: “to promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.” Closer to home, she loves gardening, cooking, camping and fly-fishing with her husband. Mrs. Montague’s favorite reads include stories by Robert McCloskey, Beatrix Potter, J.K. Rowling, Tad Hill and Dr. Seuss. She looks forward to sharing some of her favorites with her students each year.
