Mr. Larry Wilder

Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Larry Wilder

Hello everyone! My name is Larry Wilder and I am a Cross Categorical Resource (CCR) Teacher at Walnut Creek. Teaching is a second career for me and I am now entering my seventh year of teaching.

Prior to becoming an educator, I spent over twenty-five years in the business world as a human resources professional. In my last assignment, I was a Human Resources Director for Johnson & Johnson and worked at their corporate office in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

My wife and I have two daughters, a son-in-law, and one "grand-dog". We relocated from New Jersey back to North Carolina in 2010. I consider North Carolina home even though I grew up in New York City. While I was in high school, my parents sent me to live with my grandmother in Youngsville, NC.

I have an undergraduate degree in psychology from North Carolina Central University and a master’s degree in Cross Categorical Special Education from Regent University.

Teaching has always been a passion of mine and, because of my background, I think I bring a unique perspective to my role here at Walnut Creek. I am super motivated to help others achieve success and, since coming to Walnut Creek, I have had many opportunities to put my background, motivation, and interests together!

Outside of school, I am very active in church ministry and for fun, I love reading and playing the guitar.
