I am proud to have spent my entire teaching career at Oak Grove! I graduated from Meredith College in 2013 as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. I taught 3rd grade, track 2 for two years and am now teaching 5th grade, track 3! I come from a long line of teachers, so I guess you can say teaching is in my blood! I was born and bred in North Carolina. I grew up in Kinston, attending traditional schools in the Lenoir County School System. I moved to Cary after completing my undergraduate studies at Meredith College. Now a wife and mother of two incredible daughters, my life continues to only get better.
As the educational system changes, one thing that has remained the same is my educational philosophy. I believe in giving every child an opportunity to succeed, while learning in an engaging, positive, and rigorous environment. I love looking for new ways to present academic content that not only makes the learning exciting and engaging for the child, but also allows the child to take control of their own learning. I teach a child how to approach difficult challenges with a positive attitude and a toolbox of strategies they can use. In the words of Albert Einstein, "Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new." Oak Grove is my home and my family. I love being an Oak Grove Otter!
"Nobody said it would be easy. They just promised it would be worth it."
