The Lead Mine Elementary Safety Patrol is a club open to 5th grade students only. The purpose of our safety patrol is to help monitor and assist students during arrival and dismissal so that all students are safe during high traffic times of the school day. Some of the jobs included are raising and lowering the flags, opening car doors for students at carpool, assisting with breakfast duty, escorting K-2 students through the hallways to get to their buses and helping out at the bus loop as buses arrive in the afternoons. All positions are monitored by an adult staff member as well.
Students may apply to safety patrol during the Spring of 4th grade and are selected based on teacher recommendations. Students must exhibit safety and responsibility on a regular basis to be recommended for safety patrol. Students also must be available to serve from 7:55-8:30 am as well as 2:55-3:30 pm each day. The Safety Patrol is coordinated by our P.E. teacher, Brian Hills.
