First Grade Track 2
Hello! I'm Miss Kelly. I was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania! My family and I moved to Raleigh, North Carolina shortly thereafter, so I grew up in our Capital City! I graduated from Appalachian State University in the lovely mountains of Boone, North Carolina (Go Mountaineers!!!). During my time at ASU, I loved to explore the outdoors through hiking, skiing, and other adventures! I love to visit Boone as often as I can on weekends and track-outs.
I have wanted to become a teacher since I was seven years old! After beginning my teaching journey teaching third grade, I am excited to continue my journey in first grade! I hope that my own passion and love for learning will foster a classroom filled with love, hard work, and success! I truly believe in having a growth mindset. My students and I never say "I can't do it." Instead, we say "I can't do it... YET!" My favorite subject to teach is math!
I love to travel, and I have traveled to over eighteen different countries. Italy and Germany are two of my favorites, though Iceland was my latest adventure in 2016! I even spent two whole summers in Italy, where sometimes I ate two gelatos per day!! I hope that my love for traveling the world will help me to create a classroom filled with global citizens. It is going to be a wonderful year of learning with each of my first grade students and families!
