• BYOD Guidelines and Requirements 

     

    REMEMBER: BYOD IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT

    Definition of “Device”:

    For purposes of BYOD, “device” means a privately-owned wireless and/or portable electronic handheld equipment that includes, but is not limited to, smartphones, portable internet devices, handheld entertainment systems, or portable information technology systems that can be used for word processing, wireless internet access (laptop/tablet), smartwatch, etc.

     

    Security and Damages:

    Responsibility for the security of the device resides with the individual student. SRMHS is not liable for any device stolen or damaged on campus. If a device is stolen or damaged, it will be handled through the administrative office similar to other personal artifacts that are impacted in similar situations. We highly recommended that skins (decals) and other custom touches are used to physically identify your device from others. Additionally, protective cases for technology are encouraged.

     

    WCPSS Expectations:

    Students participating in BYOD will be given access to the WCPSS BYOD wireless network. WCPSS BYOD Wi-Fi may only be accessed while on campus. Students are expected to adhere to the following WCPSS BYOD Guidelines:

    • Teachers and students should not touch other students’ devices for the purpose of troubleshooting, or technical support.
    • Students are to access WCPSS BYOD Wi-Fi only (no 3G or 4G Data service)
    • No printing at school from personal devices
    • Students must use a WCPSS email account for communication and to access WakeID Applications

     

    WCPSS Student Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) School Board Policy 6446:

    This policy governs the use of WCPSS electronic information resources and defines students' proper conduct and responsibilities while using WCPSS electronic information resources.     BYOD Student/Parent Agreement:

    Students and parents/guardians participating in BYOD must adhere to the Student Code of Conduct, as well as all Board policies, particularly WCPSS Student Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) #6446. Furthermore, the student must agree to the following conditions:

     

    When signing onto the wifi network, by clicking the 'Connect' button, the student agrees to the BYOD Terms of Use.
