Wake Early College of Health and Sciences
2018-2019 Application and Selection Information
The 2018-2019 Application window for Wake Early College of Health and Sciences and all WCPSS Early Collegesis open November 4 through December 1, 1017
Current WCPSS Students~
Applications are completed online, and the application will be available beginning October 7, 2017 for current WCPSS students.
Rising 9th graders may apply to WECHS for the 2018-2019 school year.
At this time WECHS is not anticipating any open seats for rising 10th graders.
Applications are not scored on a first come, first served basis; all applications are scored and evaluated simultaneously.
Students may apply to any or all of the early college options and will rank their preferences. Students not selected for their first choice will be assigned to the waitlist of that school, even if chosen for their second, third, or fourth choice.
If selected for the early college, students are automatically assigned to that school. There is no further action required, and students may not decline their seat. Your application to WECHS indicates that you are accepting a seat if selected.
The application consist of four parts: grades, End of Grade/Course exam scores, teacher recommendation, and essay.
Students who have attended WCPSS for all of middle school do not have to upload grades and test scores. If you transferred into the system in middle school, you must upload all needed material.
Students will write an essay for WECHS. Student must write the essay - not parents.
Students will provide the email addresses of recommending teachers and/or counselors. Students should ensure the correct email is submitted and that the teacher has agreed to submit a recommendation.
Students are given priority points based on the score of their application. These priority points are added to a random lottery number. Students with higher scores have a much greater chance of receiving a seat at WECHS.
Early college applications are processed before magnet school applications. Students interested in a seat at a magnet school as a second choice should complete the magnet application. The magnet application will not be processed for students given a seat in an early college.
