I'm Daphne Perry. I am from Zebulon and have lived here all my life. I am a graduate of Meredith College and also took additional courses at Barton College. I have taught preschool, first and fourth grades. I love to read and the beach is my favorite place to visit. Spending time with family and friends is also important to me.

I am so excited to be teaching fourth grade again this year! This is my second year of teaching at Zebulon Elementary School. Before ZES I worked with Nash Rocky Mount School System. In 2007, I graduated from  East Carolina University with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. Then in 2015, I graduated from Meredith College with a master’s degree in reading.

I have lived in Zebulon for 36 years with my family. Although my boys have grown up and moved away, ZES is where my children went to elementary school. So when there was an opportunity to teach at ZES I jumped at the chance.

What I enjoy mostly about teaching is the opportunity to see students taking ownership of their own learning. They inspire me with their creativity and eagerness to learn. Last year students were busy writing poetry, learning about American history through drama, designing powerpoints on the Wright Brothers and personalizing their own portfolios. I can’t wait to see what this year will bring!  Let’s go, Cougars!
