Welcome Smith IB/PYP Magnet Elementary School!

    Greetings, Smith Magnet Elementary families!

We are so excited about the 2017-2018 school year and all of the awesome students, parents, families and staff members that are here with us this year! We are off to a good start and have several pieces of news to share with you.

Our third, fourth and fifth graders are working with a new EL curriculum that promises to be rewarding and to enhance learning for our students. Our staff has embraced the new curriculum with enthusiasm and we look forward to a great year of learning.

As we grow our IB theme, we are creating continent themed hallways. Be sure to check out the displays when you visit Smith.

Please see our website for an exciting reading partnership between Wake County Public Schools and the Carolina Hurricanes.

Smith is fortunate to be the recipient of two different grants. The first is an FDA grant that provides a fresh fruit or vegetable snack for all students three days per week. These snacks are usually served Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Be sure to ask your child what interesting new snacks they may have tried lately.

Our other grant is providing 50 azaleas to help beautify our campus. We will need help planting all of these azaleas! If you have a great thumb and are interesting in helping, please let us know.

As always, we love our volunteers. If you are interesting in helping out with PTA, field trips, Field Day or volunteering in the classroom, please come by and register as a volunteer. Volunteers need to re-register every year and we have a computer set up in our front office for that purpose.

We look forward to a fabulous year with our Smith Magnet family.
