• Single Subject Acceleration (SSA)

Single Subject Acceleration allows qualifying students to accelerate their learning by one grade level in one subject area. SSA is available in Mathematics and English Language Arts. Strict guidelines, timelines, and requirements are followed through the approval process. Parents may recommend their child for SSA.

Parent Information Sessions regarding Acceleration options are typically scheduled early in the second semester and are hosted by WCPSS. If you are interested in Acceleration, please attend one of the parent sessions as they will give you a more clear picture of your acceleration options for each year. If you are unable to attend a session, but are still interested in Acceleration for your child next year, please contact the AIG teacher.
Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) Parent Nomination Window is Closed:
A Parent Nomination form must be filled out and given to the AIG teacher during the Nomination Window. Future nomination windows and testing dates will be posted here. Find out more about SSA on the WCPSS Accelerative Practices Website. For questions, please contact the AIG teacher.
  • Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of assigning a student to a higher-grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities.

SSA is an accelerative practice that allows students to show mastery of the content of an elementary or middle school course without having taken the course. A parent may nominate his/her child to skip a grade level of content in either Language Arts OR Mathematics.
