• Plan A Sports Information Beginning April 8 (after vacation):
All Leesville students returning to school for Plan A who wish to practice with coaches for Spring sports or Winter sports (that begin May 3-22 for Winter sports), you will check-in with Coach Close April 8 by the stairway behind the main offices leading up to the media center in the morning upon arrival to school.  Students who intend to practice with Boy's Soccer or Softball or Boy's and Girl's Track, you must bring your paperwork if you have not done so already.  If you have already registered as was required then all I need is your Doctor's physical page and the Covid Questionnaire completed.  If you are planning to participate in Cheer or Basketball May 3 to May 22, you just need to stop by on April 8 and let me know that you intend to bring your paperwork on May 3.  You must have completed the online registration and will turn in the Athletic Participation Forms for the Doctors physical page and the COVID-19 Pre-Participation Health Questionnaire sheet before you can participate.  I will have a list of students who are eligible to participate when you meet me. Once all requirements have been met, you will be placed on a daily attendance sheet for the coaches.  Hilburn and Leesville Academy students will need to email me your forms and your intentions for participating by April 8. You will be able to participate on a daily basis if the numbers allow.  The first day for Plan A participation after the vacation will be April 12 for Spring sports and for Winter sports on May 3.  See requirements below.

All Hilburn students and Leesville Virtual Academy students enter at the open door to the Lions Den by the cafeteria to be screened between 3 and 3:15 pm.  Do not go through the front office or breezeway. *2020-21 Athletic News*

We will not be competing with other schools this year.  Instead we will be staying at our own school offering skill development. We will have number limitations and will try to accomodate grade 7 and grade 8 first then open up to grade 6 after if there is room.  This affects mostly indoor sports such as basketball and cheerleading.  Grade 6 if you sign up for basketball, wait until you read on this site to get a physical but do NOT get one yet.

Hilburn will be allowed to come to our school during your in school cohort days. Hilburn will follow the same covid protocols that our VA students will have to comply with before being allowed into our building and any practices which is to go through screening at our front entrance. You will also need to provide transportation to our school and home at 4:30 pm after practices. If you need bus transportation, indicate that on the sign up sheet.

If you had a physical and turned in paperwork last year (meaning you are in grade 8 this year), the physical page will be good for this year but you will have to fill out the other new 4 pages from the 2020-21 Athletic Participation Forms.  If you are new to athletics, then you will need to complete the entire package that is listed below. (Print the package and take the physical page to your Doctor for a physical then make sure that every page is fully completed with printed names and information along with all signatures, initials, and dates.) If the forms are not completely filled out in every sense of the word complete, you will not be allowed to stay for practice.

Students will have to follow all current protocols including wearing the mask over the mouth and nose at all times.  It might be a good idea if you started playing with the mask on at home to get used to this protocol.  Locker rooms and water fountains are not to be used.  Students are to wear clothes to school that they will participate in practices since there will be no changing.  Water bottles must be brought to school with water in them for their practices.  Virtual students will have to undergo a screening before entering the school.  If you need transportation after practices to get home, please email me at bclose@wcpss.net.

2020-21 Athletic Participation Forms are now available - see below!  Make sure you carefully read and follow the first page directions and save a copy for your own files when completed.  There will be a due date posted here once we get the clearance to begin.

*Please make sure you make a copy of your completed forms saved in case your papers do not get to the right person.*

FYI for any student planning to participate next year beginning in August of 2021, your 2nd semester grades will count towards eligibility!!!  Be warned and be ready, so get your academics in order NOW!!!
